The label shows MACRA logo, the model of the equipment, and the approval ID and QR code
What does the QR contains?
Updated on Dec 20th 2024.
MACRA will not deliver the QR code. The manufacturer shall generate one based on the label information
There is no specification on the tool to use to generate the QR code. The only obligation is that if an inspector scans the QR code, he can read the label information
Where shall the label be affixed?
The label must be affixed on the device itself. It is possible to affix the label on the packaging but it is not mandatory on these places
What if for consideration of design or size, the label cannot be affixed on the equipment?
Article 10-3 of the guidelines covers this situation and allows the manufacturer to affix the label on the packaging or the user manual
Is there any transition period for Equipments certified before 1st of December?
The regulation does not propose any transition process as only equipments certified after 1st of December 2024 are to bear the label.
Who is responsible to mark the equipment
The regulation does not clearly state who is reponsible for that. However, after discussion with MACRA, the inspection for the label will be hold at the POINT OF ENTRY of the goods. This means that the exporter is responsible for labeling
Also, RegulX recommends to add label on the packaging (though not mandatory) to avoid that inspectors opens the packages searching for labels.
For the cases of Equipments that are imported already integrated in other systems, is there a possibility to waive the label requirement?
RegulX identidied the following cases
Case of Modules
Macra confirmed that Modular approval is not accepted and hence the host shall bear its own label
Case of other equipments
Vehicles for Instance are imported with several onboarded devices. RegulX explained to MACRA the difficulty to have those devices labeled. MACRA was receiptive to RegulX arguments about these cases and confimed that those situation can be cover by the Article 10-3 and hence move the label to the manual and/or the packaging.
