This regulation came into force 30 days after the official publication, on August 17th, 2024

Who is eligibile to apply?
Each importer must apply for a type approval certificate in his name.
In the previous regulation, Certificate holders could issue NOC letters (Non Objection Certificate) to importers.
NOC letters are not acceptable anymore.
What is the validity period of a certificate
TRA will issue certificates with 4 years validity. Certificates issued under the former regulation expire 4 years starting from the date of their issuance.
I have a certificate issued before August 2020. How do I renew it?
Those certificates cannot be renewed. You shall apply for a new certificate.
According to TRA, the new portal is designed in such a way that already certified products can be recertified with minimal effort

I obtained a type approval certificate. Can I issue NOC letters to importers?
Yes, you can issue NOC letters but only if you operate as a branch or subsidary of a foreign manufacturer
If the importer has been using a NOC letter for its imports. Can he continue using the same for future shipments?
Yes, but only in the case if the NOC Letter is issued by a branch or subsidart of the manufacturer. In all other cases, NOC Letters are not acceptable and the importer shall apply for a type approval certificate in his name
What are the impacts on Labeling requirements?
Products that are already within Omani borders can keep their old label.
Newly shipped products must comply with the new label
What is the new label template?
Where shall the label be affixed?
The label shall be affixed on the outer package of the device
Any alternative if the device is too small?
The QR can be affixed as a minimum. If that is still not possible, then the labeling information can be listed on the user manual
Is it possible to waive the labeling requirement
Are there equipments exempted from Labelling?
The regulation excludes the following devices from labeling:
- Equipment imported mounted in vehicle
- Systems and Interface cards Modules imported fitted in datacenter cabins
- Access and core Network equipments imported for public networks
