Algeria Radio Type Approval ANF vs ARPCE
In Algeria, the Authority for Regulation of Post and Electronic
Communications (ARPCE) and the National Frequency Agency (ANF) are the main
players responsible for overseeing and regulating the telecommunications
sector, including the approval of radio equipment. Both ARPCE and ANF play
crucial roles in ensuring that radio devices respect the necessary technical
standards and comply with national regulations.
ARPCE's mandate covers all telecom and radio devices that connect to Public Networks. The regulation defines Public Networks as networks offering telecom services to the general public. Those networks are in general subject to licensing.
WiFi for instance is considered as an interface regulated by ARPCE. The reason is that there are Licensed operators offering Outdoor WiFi subscription based services. Other regulated interfaces are: WWAN, FAX, Iridium, Thuraya..etc.
ANF on the other side is regulating all equipments using spectrum but which do not connect to Public Networks. e.g : SRDs, Microwaves, PMR are among equipments under ANF scope.
